Our spiritual journey with Christ can be likened to that of a foot race that is strategically run with the goal of winning that race in mind. The Bible is replete with metaphoric examples of how we, as Christians, should approach, run, finish and self-adjust our ?race? with the Lord. Pastor Glenn Henderson, in surprisingly deliberate fashion, cited two foundational scriptures for what would prove to be a narrative of edification and encouragement in these perilous times. Philippians 1:6-7 and Hebrews 12:1 were used at the backdrop to support the message entitled, ?Author, Finisher, Race, Editor?. Pastor Glen started by letting us know that much can be learned by following those, specifically Jesus, who ran this ?race? before we have. Early in the message, Pastor Glenn contrasted the fact that pagans run after things that perish but we in the body of Christ should run this race of faith with our sights set on things that are eternal. Four main traits of our race were then highlighted: 1. (Heb. 12:2) We should keep looking to the Author (God) of our race and never lose focus on God who created, started and orchestrated the race we have been ordained to run. 2. (Heb. 12:2) We should keep looking to the finisher of our faith (God) by never forgetting that it is God who is able to see us through to the finish. 3. (Heb. 12:1c) We should never stop running the race before us and we should run it with patience. While in the race, we will face hurdles, challenges, doubts and so much more but we should always remember that God has run this very race before us, endured it, finished it and has come out victorious! #tphimjax #TPHIM
